Sailability Bart's Bash 2016

17 & 18 September 2016


Bart's Bash is an international event in aid of The Andrew "Bart" Simpson Sailing Fund.  Andrew Simpson was a British Olympic and America's Cup sailor who died tragically practicing for the America's Cup in San Francesco Bay. Sir Ben Ainsley is one of the trustees of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Fund. This year the funds raised by the event will go to towards projects running sailing for people with disabilities.  There are currently 230 sailing clubs in 31 different counties registered to take part during the weekend. â€¨ 

Sailability (HK) is coordinating a Bart’s Bash weekend sailing event that include the regular sailing for Sailability sailors on the Saturday, as well as special Bart’s Bash Race on Sunday afternoon (racing will start at 1400hrs) with a mixed fleet of Sailability and able-bodied sailors.


Saturday 17 September 2016

As part of the regular Sailability (HK) programme, a group of mixed ability sailors (both intellectual and physical disabilities), will be sailing in the Hansa fleet. The Sailability sailors will participate in a practice session on Saturday morning, which will followed by racing in the afternoon. Racing will start at 14hrs for the Sailability fleet and be followed by a prizegiving sponsored by HFW Ltd.


Sunday 18 September 2016

A mixed fleet Able and Sailability sailors will race on the Sunday. Racing will start at 1400hrs, and follow the Supplementary Sailing Instructions to be issued jointly by Sailability (HK), and Hebe Haven Yacht Club, (the host club). A donation of HK400 and will include a prizegiving and BBQ which will be sponsored by HFW Ltd. All proceeds will go to the Bart's Bash Charity that this year is raising funds for disabled sailing.


Whether you are an Oppie, Laser, 2.4mR or Keelboat sailor join in this World-Wide Sailing Event and help to raise money for Disabled Sailing. For any (non para) sailors interested in chartering the 2.4mRs there will be a charter fee of HKD400, with the fee going directly to Sailability (HK).
